Visual Arts ::

The Visual Arts portfolio is an important component of the Application for Admission. It should reflect the applicant's creative potential, process and overall abilities. The portfolio should consist of at least seven works and a sketchbook. Some suggestions for portfolio submission are: drawings or three-dimensional works that are created from direct observation (not photographs), color work, imaginative or experimental works, self-portraits, figure studies, photographs (digital printouts or slides), illustrations, design work, sculpture, ceramics, metals or fibers work.

Portfolios must be submitted to the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. If original work is submitted, it should not exceed 16" X 20” and should be shipped unframed, prepaid and insured. Applicants can submit portfolio materials by email in JPEG format to admission@interlochen.org, as a webpage or through a web server, or by mail. The sketchbook must be submitted by mail. The portfolio submissions will not be returned to the applicant.
