Important technology information for Academy students!
Acceptable Use Policy
ALL students are required to have a signed AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) agreement in order to use computer and network resources. This is accessible via the internet at
upload/files/Network AUP(1).pdf Acceptable Use Policy
If an AUP is not on file, a student and parent will be asked to sign the agreement before continuing registration.
Computer Registration Process
Students who bring computers from home will be required to bring their computer (for desk-tops, CPU only) to student registration in the LA rotunda and drop it off for campus configuration. Unless the computer has gone through this configuration, it will not be able to access any network resources. Students will be notified when their computer is ready for use. This may take several days and students will be responsible for picking their computer up in a timely manner.
To help speed up the registration process, please make sure your computer is running Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or greater), Windows Vista, or Mac OS X (10.3 or greater). Windows based PCs will also need up to date anti-virus software to complete the computer registration process.
Student Training
All new students are required to sign up for computer/network orientation during registration. This 15 - 30 minute session will be scheduled during the registration time frame. You must already have your audition scheduled (if required) PRIOR to signing up for computer training. Training will be conducted in the Distance Education Room in the basement of the Maddy Administration Building.
Telephones
All residence hall rooms are equipped with telephones. These phones serve a dual purpose of broadcasting emergency notifications, when necessary, so they should never be unplugged. Our phone system is based on voice over IP technology. Phones brought from home will not be able to operate on this network. Please see the Academy Student Handbook for additional information regarding telephone usage.
