The portfolio should consist of eight to ten pieces of original work written or revised during the last year, including:

  • Four or five pieces of poetry using a variety of styles, forms and subjects
  • Two or three pieces of non-fiction in the style of a creative, personal or reflective essay, not a report for school

Supplemental works may include a school paper, essay, or report; an original play no longer than ten pages in proper manuscript form; or, a wild card that could be a journal entry, a letter, or anything not listed as a requirement.
