Performance opportunities abound at Interlochen. Our ensembles present frequent concerts on campus, occasional special programs off-campus, and tours to other cities and campuses.
Our performing ensembles include: Orchestra, Band, Choir, Chamber Singers, Opera Workshop, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and Chamber Music. During the year, students have regular opportunities to demonstrate improvement and to earn appropriate positions in the different ensembles.
Many students engage in small ensembles, ranging from Renaissance singers and the classical string quartet to jazz combos and new music by student composers. Organists may learn the art of service playing in a local church and do their solo practice on an Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ in the Dendrinos Chapel/Recital Hall.
This school year, the Interlochen ensembles have hit the road for performances in Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Syracuse, New York City and Detroit, continuing a long tradition of national touring. Where will the 2007-2008 school year take us? Information will be posted on this web site as it becomes available.
