A Spirit of Unity
Since 1928, Interlochen Center for the Arts has been an institution with a clearly defined mission to offer students an education found in no other environment. Over 250,000 visitors come to campus each year. They come for student and guest artist performances, family visits or just to have a casual look around. Our visitors include parents, alumni, trustees, donors and prospective students. How we act toward these people and how we appear to them will decide in large part how successful we will be in the future. A spirit of unity is important at Interlochen.

The Camp Uniform
Worn by all campers, faculty and staff, the camp uniform is one of Interlochen's oldest traditions. Properly worn, the uniform promotes an awareness of the inner self. The uniform is both simple and flexible. The most important aspect of wearing the uniform is neatness. It is worn daily to the dining room, classes, concerts, performances and activities on Main Camp. From the beginning, the Interlochen uniform has meant:
- A spirit of unity
- A simplified day
- A means of identification
- A blurring of class distinctions
