Instructor of Voice ::

Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America’s oldest and most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance, and fine arts presentations, seeks a full-time Artist/Instructor of Voice. The ideal candidate is a highly energetic, motivated and visible Vocal performer and educator who is dedicated to providing creative and challenging instruction to gifted and promising young artists and promotes strong collegial relationships with professional colleagues within and outside the school. All faculty are required to work with students outside their teaching responsibilities, compensating for parental absence and assisting the residence hall staff in the development of students' total experience at Interlochen. Qualifications: A Master of Music degree or performance equivalent in voice, with substantial performance in significant venues and demonstrated teaching experience is required. The successful candidate must be able to create an exciting and challenging teaching and performing environment that fosters an intense learning atmosphere. Significant experience as a private teacher who understands the needs and capabilities of young, developing high caliber performers at the high school or college level is essential. Interlochen expects its performance faculty to establish and maintain personal and professional credibility through frequent performance on and off campus.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and maintain an active studio of private voice instruction and coaching, provide instructional assistance in opera workshop, and conduct studio classes and voice sectionals for choir and chamber singers. Performance faculty are responsible for preparing students for college and conservatory auditions. They are also expected to demonstrate high potential for and take an active role in recruiting efforts that both build and maintain an outstanding private studio. All faculty are expected to participate in a variety of student and campus activities.
