Interlochen Center for the Arts annually contracts teachers and residence life counselors for Interlochen Arts Academy, a boarding high school. We encourage you to read more about these academic year programs and any current job openings.

Interlochen Arts Academy

Founded in 1962, Interlochen Arts Academy is a fine arts boarding high school in northwestern Michigan. Each year, five hundred students from around the world come to the wooded campus at Interlochen for greater opportunities to learn, create and perform in six arts areas: creative writing, dance, motion picture arts, music, theatre arts and visual arts. A faculty of leading artist-educators guide promising students to reach their artistic and academic potential. Challenging and comprehensive college-preparatory academics compliment and enrich students’ artistic growth. Interlochen Arts Academy students have an unsurpassed record of artistic and academic achievement. Thirty-nine Academy students have been named Presidential Scholars, more than any other school in the nation, public or private. Alumni include multiple recipients of MacArthur “Genius” grants and successful professionals in all fields.

"The level of concentration and dedication of the faculty and students is the reason I wake up every morning. Until you are here, you can't even imagine the feeling of going to sleep knowing you are at Interlochen."
- Sarah Van Doel, Academy student, Indiana

The Arts and Academics
Equally committed to excellence in the arts and academics, the Academy provides students with a pre-professional arts training together with a rigorous college-preparatory education. Our students go on to the most prestigious colleges, conservatories and universities.

Three Faculties
Our three faculties empower young people to be bold, take initiative in learning and develop exceptional creative talents. Many live on campus. All faculty provide caring support and share the desire to help students succeed. The arts faculty members are typically working professionals, respected artists in their field as well as effective teachers in the classroom. The academic faculty, through a rigorous college-prep program, helps ensure that students succeed after Interlochen. The residence life faculty provides added support, answering questions, pointing out resources and helping students figure out how to get it all done while staying healthy and happy.

Accreditation
Interlochen Arts Academy is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Schools of Music.
