2009 Camp Positions
Lead Craft Instructor, 1 position: (Salary $1200)
The Lead Craft Instructor reports to the Coordinator of Leisure Arts. An extensive background in crafts or art skills necessary, with past documented supervisory experience. This individual will work on an average 40-45 hours per week with one scheduled day off (may vary at times).
• Serves as a Craft Instructor.
• Directs, prioritizes responsibilities, gives assistance and attends meetings as determined by the Coordinator of Leisure Arts.
• Meets weekly with the Craft Instructor team to disseminate information and gather relevant input about the crafts program and reviews this with the Coordinator of Leisure Arts.
• Takes responsibility for administrative duties including but not limited to: craft shop keys, supply orders, inventories, paperwork, evaluations, etc.
• Meet as needed with individual Craft Instructors to review information, give support and deal with issues.
• Meet with and develop a cooperative relationship with other Leisure Arts staff.
• Give input and recommendations regarding staffing needs, including the Craft Assistants.
• Envision and problem solve with the Coordinator of Leisure Arts and the Craft Instructor Team to maintain and improve the quality of the crafts program.
• Contribute to the evaluation of crafts staff at the end of the summer.
• Oversee the year-end reports required of Craft Instructors, including orders for the following year and a maintenance list of work to be done by the following camp season.
• Craft Instructors sometimes assist with divisional coverage responsibilities as defined by the Leisure Arts Coordinator or the Dean of Students & Education Services.

Craft Instructor, 2 positions: (Salary $950) The Crafts Instructor is supervised by the Lead Craft Instructor. This position requires extensive background in crafts or art skills. This individual will work on an average 40-45 hours per week with one scheduled day off (may vary at times).
• Manage the crafts program for elementary through high school aged campers in various handcraft and nature lore media.
• Assure a safe environment for campers utilizing the craft shop, requesting maintenance as needed.
• Inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Organize the use and storage of all craft supplies in your designated work area.
• Conduct classes for campers who participate in the craft program, and complete all related paperwork in a timely manner.
• Develop or enhance new crafts skills in campers.
• Develop and create samples of unique class projects.
• Ability to work well with others in a changing environment.
• Ability to give directions and strong leadership to craft assistance.
• Develop a cooperative relationship with the divisions you serve.
• Develop and maintain a team relationship with other Craft Instructors.
• Report to the Lead Craft Instructor and/or Leisure Arts Coordinator.
• Crafts instructors sometimes assist with emergency divisional coverage responsibilities as defined by the Coordinator of Leisure Arts or the Dean of Students & Education Services.

Recreation Manager, 1 position: (Salary $1,900)
The Recreation Manager will report to the Leisure Arts Coordinator. This individual will work a minimum of 45 hours per week with one scheduled day off. The duties of the Recreation Manager will include, but not limited to:
• Supervises two Recreation/Challenge course staff
• Insures implementation of IAC recreational policies and oversee all IAC recreational activity.
• Oversees and assist with running, scheduling and ensuring the Challenge Course is used to its potential
• Assists Leisure Arts Coordinator with the implementation of the Challenge Course into the summer camp program
• Assists divisions with new team building activity ideas as needed
• Observes and evaluates division recreation programs
• Works directly with the Division Recreation Directors
• Establishes and implements additional (if necessary) IAC recreational policies and procedures in compliance with all appropriate safety standards and agency regulations, with final approval from the Leisure Arts Coordinator.
• Checks on effectiveness of recreation class instructors
• Develops and presents orientation, training, pre-camp skill evaluation, and supervision of divisional recreational staff as well as the two he/she directly supervises
• Insures all recreational equipment and physical plants are maintained at a safe and effective operational status.
• Assists in resolving problems that may occur within specific recreational areas or pertain to the recreational program.
• Act as consultant to the Divisional Directors to assist in the integration of recreational activities within the divisional program.
• Ensures transportation and food for trips
• Attends all meetings chaired by Leisure Arts Coordinator
• Is available to represent the IAC during any informational meetings, inspections, or visitations by licensing and/or accrediting agencies regarding the recreation program • Documents and maintain current records regarding, all recreational program policies, procedures, and operational information for the full season.
• With the Leisure Arts Coordinator, evaluate all aspects of the IAC recreational Program. The Recreation Manager evaluates the Recreation/Challenge Course lead and assistant staff as well as the Divisional Recreation Directors a minimum of two times during the season. These evaluations are reviewed with the Division Director and the Leisure Arts Coordinator.
• Submits a written report summarizing the season to the Leisure Arts Coordinator at the end of the season.
• Ropes Course training, Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications strongly recommended
• Any other duties as requested by the Leisure Arts Coordinator

Recreation/Challenge Course Lead, 1 position: (Salary $1300)
The Recreation/Challenge Course Lead reports to the Recreation Manager. Recreation staff are housed in division with potential coverage responsibilities as defined the Coordinator of Leisure Arts and/or the Dean of Students & Education Services. This individual will work a minimum of 40-45 hours per week with one scheduled day off (weekly hours worked will vary at times).
The duties of the Recreation/Challenge Course Lead will include, but not limited to:
• Participate in and pass a one-two day ropes course and initiatives facilitator training provided on site the first few days.
• Facilitates activities, at the appropriate age level for the individual or group and in a safe and appropriate progression.
• Set-up and take-down course
• Complete all pre-use course equipment inspections and any other necessary paperwork
• Maintains all documentation related to assigned duties and/or employment in a timely, legible and comprehensive manner
• Present and understand each event, including all safety issues and features
• Working Knowledge of all equipment
• Prepare the group (brief) and follow-up (debrief) for the group
• Follows all Challenge Course and IAC policies and procedures as directed by the Leisure Arts Coordinator
• Uses and understands group dynamics
• Completes maintenance and cleaning responsibilities
• Develop and complete special projects with or without group help
• Collects necessary documentation and keeps it current
• Ensures all safety aspects in the operation of the challenge course
• Work in and out of division recreationally as needed.
• Insures all recreational equipment and physical plants (fields, etc) are maintained at a safe and effective operational status.
• Repairs and maintains all recreational equipment as necessary.
• Assists in resolving problems that may occur within specific recreational areas or pertain to the recreational equipment
• Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications, encouraged
• Any other duties as requested by the Recreation Manager or Leisure Arts Coordinator

Recreation/Challenge Course Assistant, 1 position: (Salary $1150)
The Recreation/Challenge Course Assistant reports to the Recreation Manager but also reports to the Recreation/Challenge Lead when operating the challenge course. Recreation staff are housed in division with potential coverage responsibilities as defined the Coordinator of Leisure Arts and/or the Dean of Students & Education Services. This individual will work a minimum of 40-45 hours per week with one scheduled day off (weekly hours worked will vary at times). The duties of the Recreation/Challenge Course Assistant will include, but not limited to:

• Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications, encouraged
• Any other duties as requested by the Recreation Manager or Leisure Arts Coordinator

Waterfront Manager, 1 position: (Salary $1,750)
The WFM will hold WSI and LT American Red Cross certifications. LT Instructor is also strongly preferred. The WFM will insure implementation of IAC aquatic policies and oversee all IAC aquatic activity. The WFM reports to, and works with, the Coordinator of Leisure Arts to establish and implement IAC aquatic policies and procedures in compliance with all appropriate safety standards and agency regulations. This individual will work a minimum of 40-45 hours per week with one scheduled day off (weekly hours worked will vary at times).
The duties of the WFM will include, but not limited to:
• Development and presentation of orientation, training, pre-camp skill evaluation, and supervision of WF staff.
• Insure all WF equipment and physical plants are maintained at a safe and effective operational status.
• Initiate practice drills of WF emergency procedures.
• Help to resolve problems that may occur within specific WF areas or pertain to the aquatic program.
• Act as consultant to the Divisional Directors to assist in the integration of aquatic within the divisional program.
• Be available to represent the IAC during any informational meetings, inspections, or visitations by licensing and/or accrediting agencies regarding the aquatic program.
• Maintain a current file of WF staff certifications.
• Document, and maintain current records regarding, all aquatic program policies, procedures, and operational information for the full season.
• With the Coordinator of Recreation, evaluate all aspects of the IAC aquatic Program.
• The WFM evaluates WF Directors a minimum of three times during the season. Evaluations are reviewed with the Division Director and the Coordinator of Recreation.

Stone Lifeguard and Small Craft Instructor, 5 positions: 1- Director (Salary $1200) 4-Instructors (Salary $1050)
Waterfront staff must hold current Red Cross Lifeguard Training (CPR for the Pro should be current through August). Stone Lifeguards and small craft instructors report to the Stone Waterfront Director and/or the Waterfront Manager. An ARC small craft instructor’s certification or other equivalent certification is preferred. A minimum of documented experience indicating knowledge and skill in teaching and/or supervision specific to the small craft activities conducted is required. Waterfront staff are housed in division with emergency coverage responsibilities as defined by the Coordinator of Leisure Arts or the Dean of Students & Education Services. This individual will work a minimum of 40-45 hours per week with one scheduled day off (weekly hours worked will vary at times).
The duties will include, but not limited to:
• Supervises all staff, faculty and guests utilizing stone waterfront staff
• Insures all stone waterfront equipment and physical plants are maintained at a safe and effective operational status.
• Reports any problems or needed repairs to their supervisor.
• Participates in practice drills of stone waterfront emergency procedures as directed by the Stone Waterfront Director and/or Waterfront Manager.
• Assists the Stone Waterfront Director in resolving problems that may occur within the stone waterfront area or pertains to the aquatic program.
• Completes all necessary paperwork pertaining to the waterfront in a timely fashion
• Required to attend scheduled classes, lifeguarding assignments, workshops, and meetings.
• Must uphold the “Standards of Lifeguarding” of IAC (see manual for more details)
• Encouraged to swim 1500 yards a week and maintain a level of fitness that will enable them to complete 100 yards of deep water dives without stopping.
• Knowledge of operating a motorized rescue craft is required.
• Any other duties as requested by the Leisure Arts Coordinator and or Waterfront Manager.
