2009 Camp positions


 

Box Office, 6 positions: 1 Supervisor and 5 Staff (Salary $100/wk for 10 weeks) 
As a member of our fast paced summer box office staff you will be the first point of contact with the public in their concert going experience.  We are a seven day a week operwtion, open 12-8:30pm.  You will be assigned to work a variety of days during the week with two days off.
Staff duties include: taking patron concert ticket orders over the phone, by mail and at the walk up window using computerized ticketing software.  In addition, you will be required to answer patron and camper questions and ocassionally staff on-site box offices at various venues on campus. (Base wage $100/wk for 10 weeks)
Supervisor duties include: maintaining a friendly and professional atmosphere, overseeing and assisting the ticket sellers in the performance of their daily job duties, opening and closing the box office, reconciling daily revenue and assisting the Box Office Manager in training of summer staff. Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of Interlochen a plus.  (Base wage $150/wk for 10 weeks)

Presentations Front-of-House Manager, 1position: (Salary $2,500 for 8 weeks, typically two weeks precamp and six weeks of core camp)
The Front-of-House manager oversees the entire front-of-house operations in the performance venues at Interlochen Arts Camp. This individual supervises 14 front-of-house staff members who in turn oversee and work alongside ushers, assist concert patrons and provide security for visiting artists.  Desired skills: someone who has had front-of-house experience in an entertainment venue, strong customer service skills, experience in dealing with merchandise settlement, and is a fast learner with the ability to work occassional long hours and a flexible schedule. Summer Arts Festival guests include classical, jazz, country and pop entertainers.  Past guest artists include Bonnie Raitt, REO Speedwagon, KT Tunstall, Joshua Bell, Trace Adkins, Billy Bob Thornton, Battleworks Dance Company, etc.  Required for application: seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms .


Presentations Front-of-House Staff, 14 positions: (Salary $800)
Front-of-House staff members are responsible for front-of-house services in the performance venues at Interlochen Arts Camp. They oversee ushers, assist concert patrons and provide security for visiting artists.  Desired skills: Someone who is customer service oriented, a fast learner with the ability to work occasional long hours and a flexible schedule, and who is also comfortable dealing with the public. Summer Arts Festival guests include classical, jazz, country and pop entertainers.  Past guest artists include Bonnie Raitt, REO Speedwagon, KT Tunstall, Joshua Bell, Trace Adkins, Billy Bob Thornton, Battleworks Dance Company, etc.  Required for application: seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms .


Percussion Coordinator, 1 position: (Salary $1,300)
Reports to coordinator of Calendar and Facilities; oversees the distribution and organization of percussion equipment for daily rehearsals and performances; monitors use and enforces policies to protect and maintain instruments; keeps and updates the ICA percussion inventory; works closely with stage services and ensemble managers.  Required for application: seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms .


Assistant Percussion Coordinator, 1 position: (Salary $1100) 
Works closely with the Percussion Coordinator to provide percussion equipment for daily rehearsals and performances; helps determine equipment and repair needs, and helps facilitate communication between Coordinator, students, staff and faculty; be prepared to assume duties of coordinator when necessary. Production Lead Technicians, 3 positions (1 Lead Technician and 2 Audio Technicians) Salary $175 per week, employment dates: mid May - mid August
--Lead Stage Technician Minimum Requirements:  Two years experience in entertainment production. Graduate and upper class college students preferred.  Desired Skills:  Position requires someone who is self-motivated and able to work well in a collaborative environment. They should have a working knowledge of and experience in lighting, audio, staging systems, rigging and safe working practices. Previous experience with touring productions, musical ensembles, theatre and dance helpful. Position Description: The position will be involved with leading the production crew in the areas of staging, and lighting set-up for ICA events as well as the Arts Festival shows in Kresge and Corson. Past artists of the Arts Festival have included Norah Jones, Josh Groban, The Boston Pops, Chicago, James Taylor, and Faith Hill. This position will work in a variety of venues that in include a 3929 seat amphitheater, 972 seat theatre, and a 3500 seat bandshell, and be responsible for the care and upkeep of production equipment in these venues.  Required for application: seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms .
--Audio Technician Minimum Requirements: Two years experience in basic as well as advanced PA system design and use. Graduate and upper class college students preferred.  Desired Skills: Position requires someone who is self-motivated and able to work well in a collaborative environment. Prior experience working in live audio required. Experience with Midas and Crest consoles as well as electro Voice speakers a plus.  Position Description: The person(s) filling this position will set up and operate ICA’s audio systems. This can include Front of House and Monitor systems. They will also help in planning audio systems. They work in leadership roles for the production crew and assist in the care and upkeep of audio and PA equipment. This position will work on Interlochen productions that include classical, jazz, theatre, and dance as well as work closely with Arts Festival guest artists including classical, jazz, country, and pop entertainers. Production Services, 12 positions (Salary$1000.00, June 10th-August 4th)
Minimum Requirements:  Must be 18 years of age, in good physical condition and able to lift heavy objects. Students currently studying audio production, lighting or theatrical production preferred.
Desired Skills:  Position requires someone who is motivated and a quick learner with the ability to work occasional long hours and a flexible schedule. Knowledge of or participation in any performing arts desirable.  Applicants will be working a flexible schedule with occasional long hours.  The positions require a self-motivated individual, who are team players. 
JOb Description:  This staff will provide all aspects of production support including staging, audio and lighting.  Specific duties and work assignments will be based on experience and skills. These persons will work with Interlochen productions that include classical, jazz, theatre, and dance as well as work closely with Arts Festival guest artists including classical, jazz, country, and pop entertainers. Past artists include Norah Jones, Boston Pops, Chicago, James Taylor, and Faith Hill. They are also responsible for the care and upkeep of venues and production equipment. Internships available. Recording Engineer, 3 positions: (Salary $900 plus room and board, internship credit available) employment dates: June 15  to August 3  Job Description:  Under general supervision of the Radio Chief Engineer, the Recording Engineer provides audio recording engineering and technology expertise for the Music Department, Interlochen Public Radio, and other departments as required; sets up and records music concerts and recitals, studio recording sessions, live radio broadcasts and audio duplication using digital recording, editing and audio compact disc mastering hardware and software.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants for the position should have a strong background in classical music and a solid theoretical and practical understanding of the concepts, techniques and technology involved in classical music recording, editing and production.  Additional skills desired: Ability to utilize advanced audio recording, mastering and editing techniques. Ability to set up, calibrate and operate studio recording equipment. Knowledge of systems analysis, system software and computer hardware. Stage Services Assistant, 1 position: (Salary $1, 200) 
Desired Skills: Position requires person who is motivated and a quick learner. Good communication, customer service and typing skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internet required. Ability to work occasional long hours. Persons with previous experience in the concert production of musical ensembles preferred. Knowledge of or participation in musical ensembles and prior leadership desirable.  Position Description: This person will report to the Coordinator of Facilities and assist the day to day needs of the music ensembles at Interlochen Arts Camp. They will assist with the scheduling of stage staff. They will work closely with Ensemble Managers and conductors to make sure venues are ready and set correctly for rehearsals and performances. There will be occasional need to assist with dance, theatre, and guest artist productions as well. Required for application: seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms.
