2009 Camp positions

Advancement Internship, 1 position: (Base Wage $800) 
Responsibilities: Job duties consist of stewarding 300+ camp scholarships. He/she will be responsible for getting and/or assisting with photos and thank you letters from scholarship recipients. He/She will be responsibile for arranging a meet & greet with scholarship donors (who visit campus during the summer months) and their recipients. He/she will assist the Development in event planning by printing/mailing invitations, providing name tags, keeping track of RSVP’s, returning confirmation calls to all guests, assist with campus tours for guests of development, and offer a warm welcome at any and all department-led events. He/she may be asked to: file, enter data, answer the phone, relay messages, setup schedules. The Vice President for Development and /or members of the Development staff may have additional special projects for the intern to complete. The intern works approximately 40 hours per week. That may vary depending on what is scheduled for that week.  Required for application: letter of interest, resume, seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms 



Alumni Office Internship, 1 position (Base wage $800)
Qualifications: work effectively in a team environment, maintain a friendly and flexible attitude in hosting alumni and visitors, ability to utilize constructive and professional communication skills and the flexibility to be available to work a varied schedule-including some evenings in a variety of physical environments. (Some work weeks may require hours in excess of 40hours).  Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, internet services and databases desired.  Duties and responsibilities will vary with the individual hired.  Alumni Summer Intern will: assist with the set-up, maintenance and break-down of Apollo Hall and the summer Alumni Welcome Center,  greet alumni and visitors,  assit with registration and hospitality throughout the summer especially during Alumni Weekend, track alumni visitors, generate follow-up correspondence to alumni via email, construct and deliver welcome packets, assist with special events-including evening receptions, conduct research, conduct recorded interview of alumni for institutional history and use at Interlochen Public Radio and record/update alumni information in Interlochen's database. Required for application: resume, seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms 



Photography Internship, 2 position: (Base wage $800)
The photo interns capture a variety of informal photos in many interesting and challenging settings.  In this role, the photographers will work closely with the marketing department to become familiar with the department's visual messaging efforts.  The interns will obtain high quality images for use in publications and on the website.  Responsibilities include location and studio photo shoots, scheduling, logistics, managing equipment and supplies and reviewing/cataloging digital images.  Interns will also be responsible for managing a web-based photo gallery and will upload images on a daily basis.  The 40 hour weekly schedule varies, with some evening and weekend assignments.  Photo interns need to have formal college-level training in photography and a portfolio of work.  Interns must be able to skillfully operate a digital SLR camera and deal with a variety of challenging lighting issues.  Strong computer, organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.  Interns will be expected to walk or ride for several hours each day.  Photo interns are expected to be self-starters who can maintain a positive attitude in all types of working conditions.  Interns will provide their own digital SLR camera. Marketing and Communications Internship, 2 position: (Base wage $800)
The marketing and communications intern works closely with the National Marketing and Communications manager to effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.  Marketing and communications interns will perform a variety of functions including:  writing press releases, responding to media inquiries, conducting media research, writing content for the web or promotional materials, proofreading, preparing internal news bulletins, assisting with the market research efforts and other related duties.  To be effective, the interns must be self-starters and able to work independently.  Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as, strong computer and organizational skills.   Required for application: three non-academic writing samples (ie. press releases, feature-style journalism, promotional materials), resume, seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms 
 


Video Internship, 1 position: (Base wage $800) 
The Video Intern will capture a wide variety of informal videos in many interesting and challenging situations.  In this role the video intern will work closely with the marketing department to become familiar with the department's video efforts, which are primarily web-based.  The video intern will obtain high quality footage and work with video editing software to create and post regular video productions.  Responsibilities also include:  scheduling logistics, managing equipment/supplies and working with the marketing staff to identify video opportunities.  The intern will be expected to develop an effective cataloging system.   A 40-hour work week is expected, with some occasional evening/weekend work and requires up to several hours of walking each day.  The video intern should have formal training in video production and editing.  The intern must be able to skillfully operate a digital video camera and work with editing software on a MAC OS; Final Cut experience is prefered but not required.  Applicants must have very strong organizational skills.  The video intern is expected to be a self-starter who can maintain a positive attitude in all types of working conditions. Required for application: twenty photo samples, resume, seasonal application. three Interlochen reference forms 



Admissions Intern, 3 positions: (Base wage $800)
The enrollment interns are actively involved in the recruitment, admission and retention efforts for Interlochen Center for the Arts' core education programs. This is a demanding but rewarding position for a dedicated, recent alumnus of Interlochen Arts Academy.  It includes heavy correspondence and collaboration with internal and external constituents, regular public speaking, attendance at presentations and performances, implementation of new programs, frequent letter writing, campus touring of visitors and general reception. Interns are an integral part of the enrollment team and as such, must be able to work extended hours. This position demands strong computer, organizational, strategic thinking and communication skills, and a self-evident enthusiasm about Interlochen. Because of the high level of detailed institutional/programmatic knowledge needed.  Required for application: seasonal application and three Interlochen reference forms.
