SALARY and COMPENSATION:
Based on responsibilities, plus non-taxable housing and all meals (when Food Service is open) during the academic year (see contract dates). In most cases, vacations parallel student breaks.
DESCRIPTION: Residence hall counselors are responsible for the social, artistic and academic development of students in a boarding high school environment. This challenging live in student personnel position involves working with other residence life staff in the parental guidance of diverse and talented young people. Each hall counselor lives in a residence hall and is responsible for the primary care of an assigned group of students living in his/her building. Specific duties include the monitoring and enforcement of building and school policies, managing the front desk, fostering the students’ academic and personal development, creating and leading social, educational and wellness programs, chaperoning student off-campus trips and tours, and dining room supervision. Most importantly, hall counselors must possess the desire to create and maintain a safe and healthy residential community. Additional assignments may include, but are not limited to such things as Student Activities, Student Government Advisor, and Community Service Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree with emphasis in one of the fine arts, counseling, social work, or education desired. Candidates should be able to show previous work with conflict-resolution skills, peer mediation, crisis management and the ability to respond to emergency situations. Experience working with high school-aged students is preferred.
